Text edited on Laura Loomer’s shirt in viral photo | Fact check

An Oct. 12 Threads post (direct link, archive link) shows conservative activist Laura Loomer holding a megaphone and wearing a shirt that says, “Hitler Did Nothing Wrong.” Men behind her hold flags and wear shirts with former President Donald Trump’s name on them.
“Trump rallies today!” reads the post’s caption. “These are the MAGAs.”
Other versions of the claim were shared on Threads and X, formerly Twitter.

The text on Loomer’s shirt is digitally altered. The original photo shows Loomer wearing a shirt that says, “Donald Trump Did Nothing Wrong.”
Loomer, an avid Trump supporter, is no stranger to controversy, as she previously sparked controversy over her conspiracies about 9/11 and comments about Vice President Kamala Harris’ Indian heritage.
But the text on Loomer’s shirt is edited.
The original photo was captured by The Associated Press in June 2023 outside a federal courthouse in Miami. Trump was arraigned there for allegedly stashing more than 300 classified documents at his nearby Mar-a-Lago resort after leaving the White House in January 2021. The photo shows Loomer wearing a shirt that says, “Donald Trump Did Nothing Wrong.”
Hundreds of people gathered outside the courthouse alongside Loomer to show their support for the former president. A Florida federal judge later dismissed the case in July 2023 because she said the case’s appointment of special counsel Jack Smith was unlawful.
Fact check: No, the Atlantic didn’t publish a story with headline saying Trump is Hitler
The Associated Press also captured similar photos of Loomer wearing the shirt at the rally. The conservative activist has been photographed on various occasions with the shirt, which she designed, according to AP’s caption.
Loomer currently sells the “Donald Trump did nothing wrong” shirt on her website.
USA TODAY reached out to Loomer and the user who shared the post for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
Reuters and AFP also debunked the claim.
